Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to men on whom His favour rests.” Some of the Jews waiting for a Savior to deliver them from Roman rule; other hoped the Christ (Messiah) would deliver them from physical ailments. But Jesus, while healing their illnesses and establishing a spiritual Kingdom, delivered them from sin His work is far-reaching than anyone could imagine. Christ paid the price for sin and opened the way to peace with God. He offers us more than temporary political or physical change – He offers us a new heart that will last for eternity (Life Application Study Bible)

HOW DO WE KNOW THAT WE BADLY NEED PEACE?

o       We see great light (Isaiah 9:2b)

o       There is no more distress and gloom (Isaiah 9:1a)

o       We will be honored (Isaiah 9:1c)

o       We will be enlarged and our joy increased (Psalms 4:7; 119:162)

WHAT PREVENTS US FROM GETTING PEACE?

o       Fear (Luke 2:9b, 10a)

HOW CAN WE GET PEACE?

We can get peace when…

o       We call on the Lord … (Isaiah 62:6b; 60:18)

o   The angle of the Lord appears to us and the glory of the Lord shines around us (Luke 2:8,9)

WHAT WILL HAPPEN WHEN WE HAVE PEACE?

We shall…

o       Be glorious (Isaiah 9:1)

o       Praise the Lord (Luke 2:13-14, 20)
